Pedra Branca, or White Rock, is one of the most famous surf spots in the area and offers a unique surf experience for intermediate and advanced surfers. With a tubular left peak that breaks almost always perfectly, it's not for beginners due to its shallow reef and rock bottom. On smaller days, there's a fun lefthand wall, but when the Autumn swells kick in, it transforms into a challenging death or glory pit with barrels up to double overhead. The right peak in the Praia de Pedra Branca bay caters to all abilities and is a long fun wall over sand and reef. With a competitive vibe, it's best for advanced surfers and has a small take-off zone and a crowd of hard-charging locals. The long, fast, hollow barrels make this regional classic a world-class spot on its day. Access is easy via a piste road opposite the campsite, but be aware of heavy waves and urchins.
